LV Police Search for Driver Who Fled After Hitting a Bicyclist

|

Las Vegas police are looking for a driver who hit a bicyclist on Wednesday in the west valley and kept driving. The bicyclist suffered serious injuries in the hit and run accident.

William Barton, 53, suffered serious injuries after being hit by a gray or silver four-door sedan at approximately 2:45 p.m. near Alta Dr. and Rainbow Blvd, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The driver did not stop after hitting Barton.

According to the reports, Barton was riding in the bicycle lane, heading east on Alta when the driver of the sedan, who was also traveling east, clipped him on the left side.

Police are searching for the driver and are asking anyone who has information about the incident to call the Metropolitan Police Department Accident Investigation Section at 702-828-3595 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.

As Las Vegas bicycle accident lawyers, the attorneys of Bertoldo Carter Smith & Cullen represent bicycle riders who are injured by drivers on the road. According to Nevada law, drivers of motor vehicles must share the roads with bicyclists and must exercise due care to avoid a collision with a person riding a bike.

We are hoping that the driver of this accident comes forward or is turned in. If you know anything, we urge you to contact the Las Vegas police.
