Proud to have grown up in Las Vegas, Jim pursued his business administration and accounting undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Remaining in his beloved city, he showcased his diligence by becoming a Certified Public Accountant before attending Gonzaga University School of Law, graduating with distinction in 1993. Upon his return to Las Vegas, Jim's journey in law began, spanning various facets from insurance defense to victims' rights. For over 13 years, he led the Special Victim's Unit as Chief Deputy District Attorney, taking on some of Clark County's most challenging cases. Jim's unwavering dedication is also evident through his co-founding of the Southern Nevada Children's Advocacy Center and the Southern Nevada Sexual Assault Review Team, initiatives that underscore his commitment to safeguarding the vulnerable.
Currently, with Bertoldo Carter Smith & Cullen, Jim's mission remains unchanged: ensuring justice for the ordinary individual against formidable opposition. His approach? Constructing solid cases, outworking the competition, and placing victims' welfare at the forefront.
Beyond his legal crusades, Jim leads a balanced life, passionately supporting initiatives against sexual violence. He cherishes moments with his family and actively participates in church events.
