At this same time, Ruth was relocated 2 miles north to allow for the expansion of the Deep Ruth Mine.
In 1978, the mines in Ruth were closed down and the town has since been on a steady decline. Many still hold hope that once the mines re-open, Ruth will shake off its “ghost town” status and re-grow.
