Fatal Motorcycle Accident Brings up Safety Issues

|

An accident that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist brings up issues of motorcycle safety. Mark A. Mizzoni, 53, died of multiple force trauma as a result of a collision with a car on March 23.

According to Fox 5 News, Mizzoni was driving his 1996 Harley Davidson  Road King on  Nellis Boulevard near Linda Ave. at approximately 5:30 p.m. when he was hit by a woman driving an Acura who was exiting  a private highway.

Mizzoni was reportedly flung from his motorcycle during the accident and died from injuries at the scene.

“This was something that didn’t have to happen. It’s a tragedy. Me and my uncle were very close and it’s a sad day for us,” John Mizzoni, the victim’s nephew told Fox5. “Pay attention. When you are driving, whether it’s a car or motorcycle pay attention to your surroundings because you don’t want this day to happen to you.”

This tragic Las Vegas motorcycle accident brings up motorcycle rider safety. As John Mizzoni points out, it is important for all drivers on the road to pay attention at all times. Motorcycles can be difficult to see and can appear suddenly if drivers of other vehicles aren’t paying attention.

As drivers of vehicles, it is important to double-check for motorcyclists before changing lanes or making turns. And, as motorcyclists, it is equally important to always pay attention to your surroundings.

It is also important that motorcyclists are properly trained and wear the appropriate protective gear. Even with the most up-to-date gear, riders are at risk for serious injuries and death.
