Woman Sues Doctor for Husband’s Death

In February, the widow of a man who died due to alleged improper practices by a Las Vegas urologist filed a lawsuit against the doctor claiming medical malpractice.

Her husband died due to complications of a bladder perforation. The lawsuit filed by the widow claims that the doctor treating her deceased husband did not use the appropriate standard of care when doing so, which is the theory most often applied in medical malpractice lawsuits.

About Medical Malpractice

Every day, we trust healthcare professionals with our own treatment and that of our loved ones. While many professionals in the medical field do follow appropriate guidelines and never put us in harm’s way, sometimes missteps happen that can cause grave injuries and even death.

If this has happened to you, or a loved one, it is important that you seek the advice of an experienced medical malpractice attorney. He or she can evaluate your case and tell you whether your doctor or other healthcare professional has actually breached the appropriate standard of care for his or her medical profession.

Breaching the Standard of Care

The prevailing theory in a medical malpractice case is negligence. Put simply, negligence means that one person owed another person a duty of care; that duty of care was breached, and that breach caused injuries. If this occurs when it comes to medical treatment, you, or a loved one, may have a case against the healthcare provider who treated you.

If your lawsuit is successful, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries. Experienced Las Vegas medical malpractice attorneys like ours at Bertoldo Carter Smith & Cullen can help to evaluate your case and seek to secure compensation that will help restore your quality of life, pay for needed medical treatment, and bring you peace of mind.
