Attention Bicycle Riders: Do You Know the Rules of the Road?

|

For all of you bicyclists, safety comes first. And, part of being safe is knowing and understanding the rules of the road. For example, under Nevada law, motorists must exercise due care to avoid a collision with a person riding a bicycle and cyclists must not intentionally interfere with the movement of a motor vehicle.

According to Nevada law, motorists must always yield the right-of-way to bicyclists and should not enter, stop, stand or park within the pathway or lane created for bicycles unless he or she is trying to avoid a collision with other cars on the road, is operating or parking a disabled vehicle, is entering a driveway or alleyway, is performing official duties, is following orders from a police officer or is dealing with an emergency.

Knowing the rules of the road is important to ensure that you and others on the road are safe. For a complete list of Nevada’s rules of the roadcheck out Nevada’s revised statute 484B.270.
